No more trying to be mindful alone.The Hive exists to develop creative, compassionate, and mindfully-engaged citizens in the Cincinnati region, and online through small group classes and workshops. We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Your partnership helps make this nonprofit possible.(As a social enterprise, the Hive shares our story with photos of classes and events. If you are opposed to sharing your lovely face, let us know and we'll do our best to avoid that. Much of our public dialog today is like lawyers arguing in court -- endless rebuttals, but without a judge to say Enough! As a recovering lawyer myself, I know well the dissatisfaction and ineffectiveness that comes with this model. Over the past 15 years I've trained lawyers how to influence others without "winning", and I want to bring our empathy-based dialog tactics to local leaders. In this course you will learn to: change your narrative about others to rehumanize them; identify and meet their needs to build trust; and discover the motivations that animate their polarizing positions. By using these practices to move closer to others, you will occupy a place of influence as you begin to actually enjoy our ongoing human debate.
Jeffrey Stec is a certified mediator who practiced family law for eight years before becoming a community engagement and dispute resolution facilitator. He has also written and taught continuing legal education courses in collaborative negotiation since 2005.
