Join us for an eclectic range of films and programs on our historic auditorium's big screen!

As All Hallow's Eve approaches, gather with us at The Philosophical Research Society as we join forces with Heather Henson's Handmade Puppet Dreams and the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry and welcome a creepy cast of puppet ghosts and ghouls to haunt PRS's historic grounds! A one-of-a-kind co-production, this very special event will explore Halloween lore, supernatural stories, and the search for wisdom through esoteric traditions of autumnal storytelling. Talented puppeteers and their cursed creations will not only take over PRS's screen, but also our courtyard, Lecture Room, lobby, and library with live puppetry performance installations! This very special n' spooky evening will begin with a screening of fantastic (and frightening) Halloween puppet short films, lovingly curated by Handmade Puppet Dreams, followed by a Q&amp;A with filmmakers as well as the evening's LA Guild of Puppetry puppeteers – Chad Wyszynski &amp; Brittaney Talbot, Margot Fitzsimmons, Ryn Stafford, and Ricky Chavez – who will then proceed to haunt The Philosophical Research Society, as the audience is let loose to wander its historic grounds to experience their kooky &amp; ooky performances! With the powers of the LA Guild of Puppetry, Handmade Puppet Dreams, and PRS combined – this promises to be a not-to-be-missed, fun-for-all-ages Halloween celebration like no other! Kevin McTurk</li></ul> ABOUT THE PERFORMERS &amp; PERFORMANCES Chad Wyszynski and Brittaney TalbotChad Wyszynski and Brittaney Talbot are a married couple who sometimes call themselves “The Wyzbots.” Brittaney is a puppeteer who specializes in shadow puppetry, full suit puppetry, and animatronics. She just returned from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where she was the puppet designer and lead for “I Sell Windows” by Kacie Rogers. She is also a professional triathlete. Chad is a software engineer with a focus on online games. He is also a writer and tarologistChad &amp; Brittaney's Performance: A shadow puppetry-based tarot card reading, in which two imps continuously try and fail to escape the devil. The show is designed to loop every five minutes. Margot FitzsimmonsMargot Fitzsimmons, a versatile theater and film director, puppetry artist, and arts educator, specializes in creating captivating content for children. With experience spanning four continents, she has collaborated with artists and organizations worldwide. In 2016, she was honored with the Winifred Ward Memorial Scholarship Award for her outstanding contributions to theater for young audiences. As the Co-Artistic Director of Double Image Theater Lab, she spearheaded artistic direction and leadership. Her work with the company has received Jim Henson Seed and Project Grants and has been seen in the United States, Holland, Israel, Germany, Taiwan and Austria. She has studied with master puppeteers Ralph Lee, Landis Smith (U.S.), Diego Guzman (Spain), Damiet Van Dalsum (Holland), Made Moja (Indonesia) and Norbert Goetz (Germany). She received a B.A. in Theater and Spanish (Dickinson College, 2004) and M.A. in Educational Theater in Colleges and Communities (NYU, 2007) and an MFA in Theater for Young Audiences (University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa 2016).Margot's Performance: Follow a young adventurer as they navigate iconic film moments, where shadows dance and pages turn, bringing the magic of storytelling to life. Ryn StaffordRyn Stafford is a writer, actor, playwright and puppeteer from Saint Paul, Minnesota. She has had her work workshopped and performed at New York Theatre Workshop and Heart of the Beast Theater. Ryn is interested in African American history, the southern gothic tradition, religion, and ancestry.Ryn's Performance: This tabletop puppet piece features the retelling of ghost stories her father, who grew up picking cotton in South Carolina, told her about the spirits of that land. <h3>Tickets: $10 | FREE ADMISSION for Children 12 &amp; Under</h3><h3>(In Person Only Event)</h3>Please email events@prs.org or phone 323-663-2167 with any questions.

PARKINGLimited parking is available onsite at PRS in both the front lot (entry from Los Feliz Blvd. when heading east) and back lot (entry from first alley way, off Griffith Park Blvd. from intersection with Los Feliz Blvd.), as well as street parking on Griffith Park Blvd. and (after 7 PM) on Los Feliz Blvd. We encourage attendees to consider carpooling, walking or biking to events if possible, and please be considerate of our Los Feliz neighbors when parking. Talking and texting are not allowed during the events.</li><li>No filming, audio recording or mobile phone recording of events, screenings, concerts or other programs by audience members is allowed without permission.</li><li>There is no smoking permitted on PRS grounds.</li><li>We strongly encourage guests to wear masks to PRS events to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.</li><li>PRS allows Service Animals into the facility under ADA and state guidelines.
