This event will take place at <a href="https://www.theropecollective.com/" title="https://www.theropecollective.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Rope Collective</a> Studio in Barrio Logan, San Diego. Visit the Contact + Location tab of our website for studio access information.EVENT DETAILS:Part of our Core Curriculum and the final class in our Fly Series! We will bring all of the knowledge of the previous classes together and come off the ground for the first time! Before we jump into the techniques, there will be extensive risk mitigation and safety awareness conversation. As we begin to understand the risks of full suspension, even in its basic form, we want you to understand some of the pitfalls as well as some of the tools to avoid these mistakes. Also covered is an inclusive and structural perspective of hardpoints, and how to set up safe and stable hardpoints for suspension. Last, but not least, we’ll cover uplines and lock-offs, taking the waist and chest harnesses in the air, with instructor supervision and valuable input on technique. Begin your suspension journey, and gain valuable insight into how to come off the ground as safely as you can!Prerequisite Classes:“Foundations of Rope” *or equivalent, required*“Floor Series: Rope Handling” *highly recommended, not required”“Floor Series: Body Mechanics” *highly recommended, not required”“Fly Series 1: Hip Harnesses for Suspension” *or equivalent, required*“Fly Series 2: Chest Harnesses for Suspension” *or equivalent, required*Recommended Foreknowledge:Intermediate knowledge of foundations/ soft skills including: informed consent, negotiation, aftercareIntermediate Safety risk knowledge including nerve impingement and loss of circulation.Suspendable hip/waist harnessSuspendable chest harnessSafety and Precautions:Given the advanced nature of suspension, participants are strongly encouraged to have a solid foundation in basic rope bondage techniques and an understanding of general safety protocols. This class includes rigorous safety briefings and mid-tie checks to ensure the well-being of all involved. <h2>FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS</h2>RECOMMENDED ITEMS TO BRING:Wear clothing that allows you to feel comfortable, empowered or expressive. This is not a play party and all guests will be encouraged to come in clothing that comfortable and/or expressive in ways that feel good to them but required to keep under garments on and pelvic area covered. We suggest something that you might wear to move freely without feeling restricted. Separate top and bottom that allows you to expose legs, arms, and belly may feel good for the interactive portions of this workshop but is optional.Please bring anything else that allows you to feel comfortable and we ask that you limit usage of strong perfumes/aromas to support a variety of sensory needs.
