Caltrain Electric Service Launch Party - Palo Alto

Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain has enjoyed five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 60,000 average weekday riders earlier this year. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.

Caltrain is excited to launch our new schedule for electrified service, which will provide faster, cleaner, quieter, and more frequent service! Celebrate by riding Caltrain’s new, modern electric trains for free and joining celebratory festivities across the corridor throughout the weekend of September 21 &amp; 22. This event is in partnership with the <a href="https://www.cityofpaloalto.org/Home" title="https://www.cityofpaloalto.org/Home" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">City of Palo Alto</a> and <a href="https://www.stanford.edu/" title="https://www.stanford.edu/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Stanford University.</a>Join us for this free, family-friendly community event and enjoy the following:<ul><li>Community Performances</li><li>Caltrain Giveaways</li><li>Food Vendors</li><li>Games</li><li>Photo Booth</li><li>Art Demonstration by Eric Rewitzer from 3 Fish Studios</li><li>Community Resources</li></ul>This is a non-smoking event.Parking is extremely limited. We encourage all guests to take public transportation, walk, bike, or roll into the station.Caltrain will offer free rides throughout the weekend with service every 30 minutes, including an additional roundtrip train between Gilroy and San Jose. See the <a href="https://www.caltrain.com/media/33908" title="https://www.caltrain.com/media/33908" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">full weekend schedule</a> to plan your trip.The extra train departs Gilroy at 12:26 p.m. with a transfer to an electric train at San Jose Diridon Station, allowing South Santa Clara County residents to arrive at Palo Alto Station in time for the 2:00 p.m. event.
