Overview

This workshop is all about establishing a design thinking mindset to tackle business problems. Theories will be intertwined with the instructor's "in-the-trenches" know-how and insights from his years of experience working at Google, Pure, Amazon, and IBM.

No prior UX knowledge or experience required. Class materials will be shared ahead of the class.

Convenient location

The class is to be held at Satellite co-working space in the heart of gorgeous Sunnyvale downtown. The location is a short walk from the Sunnyvale Caltrain station, it sits directly above Coffee & More, and is a stone throw away from all the Sunnyvale downtown eateries. If you drive, there's plenty of parking spaces nearby as well.

Currently a Staff UX Design Lead at Google, Steven has over 20 years of industry experience leading enterprise-scale UX projects and building great UX teams at Google, Pure, Amazon, and IBM. 

Steven helped Pure creating its UX discipline and built its UX team from the ground up, including the hiring of the entire UX team. In 2021, Steven led the charge in winning the prestigious A'Design award for Pure1's cloud tooling. At Google, Steven is the design lead for 2 key strategic Ads pillars, and has interviewed over `100s of designers to help Google Ads grow its UX organization.

Fueled by his love for teaching, Steven has been teaching UX for 9 years across multiple countries that include the San Francisco bay area, Australia, Japan, and Hong Kong.

Steven is the owner of 8 invention patents, author of multiple publications, and has earned certificates in both the IBM Leadership Excellence (IBMLE) Program and Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP). In his spare time he enjoys discovering craft beer, watching football, and gobbling up blogs and tweets from those he follows.
