About this event

  • 6 hours

Lighthouse Collaborative Summary: The Lighthouse Collaborative (LC) is a cross-district instructional improvement initiative designed to support the Chancellor’s Four Pillars, with an emphasis on expanding our ability to “scale, sustain and restore what works” through collaborative inquiry and sharing of promising practices. All Lighthouse Collaborative schools open their doors to a citywide audience to share promising practices within an instructional focus area.

Visit Summary: Robert F. Wagner is a middle school located in Manhattan.

At this Lighthouse Collaborative visit, participants will:

  • Learn about the schoolwide and departmental strategies Wagner Middle School  is utilizing to implement the IM curriculum and make the shift to problem-based pedagogy in mathematics.
  • Gain valuable insights into the school's journey and promising practices, as well as the role administrators play in supporting teams and team leaders through the incorporation of intentional systems and structures.
  • Explore components of the IM problem-based lesson structure that contribute to equitable outcomes for all students by observing classrooms taught by other teachers, and reflecting on the teaching techniques that foster student learning and engagement.
  • Engage in meaningful conversations with teachers and leaders to collaboratively explore challenges, successes, and innovative solutions.

At the end of the day, visitors will have the opportunity to plan how these practices can be incorporated into their own work.
