The next WIP Leadership Dinner is taking place for WIP Alums in London with Professor Adrian Furnham, one of the UK’s leading Professors of Psychology & Leadership and Mary Clare Race, Associate Director at Arup Consulting, a professional in leadership development and organisational change.

The talk will be followed by Tapas at Navarros, 67 Charlotte St, London W1T 4PH.

Mary-Clare Race is an Associate Director within the Management Consulting practice at Arup in London where she leads a team of 20 consultants working in the area of psychology and business change. Mary-Clare’s particular expertise is in the area of leadership development and she has led and contributed to the design and delivery of numerous development programmes for senior professionals in a range of organisations. Her approach to leadership development is underpinned by the principle of ’leadership for a purpose’; understanding the context in which individuals are required to lead and designing interventions that are grounded in reality and enable them to deliver to this purpose.

Adrian Furnham was educated at the London School of Economics where he obtained a distinction in an MSc Econ., and at Oxford University where he completed a doctorate (D.Phil) in 1981. He has subsequently earned a D.Sc (1991) and D.Litt (1995) degree. Previously a lecturer in Psychology at Pembroke College, Oxford, he has been Professor of Psychology at University College London since 1992.

He has lectured widely abroad and held scholarships and visiting professorships at, amongst others, the University of New South Wales, the University of the West Indies, the University of Hong Kong and the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has also been a Visiting Professor of Management at Henley Management College. He has written over 1000 scientific papers and 70 books.
