After a 23 year absence from film directing, celebrated visionary director Alejandro Jodorowsky makes a much anticipated and triumphant return to cinema with the spectacular THE DANCE OF REALITY.
Based on his autobiography of the same name, the film depicts, as only he can, Jodorowsky’s coming of age in the tiny seaside town of Tocopilla, Chile in the 1930’s. With more narrative structure than his earlier offerings, THE DANCE OF REALITY still retains Jodorwosky’s uniquely imaginative and anarchistic visual style.
The film is a cinematic remembrance of childhood that is by turns perverse, funny, touching, and absurd. While belonging alongside other auteur directed autobiographical coming of age stories like Fellini’s AMACORD, THE DANCE OF REALITY transcends the limits of conventional film with an inventiveness that only the mind of Jodorowsky could create.
