Description

The book inside you:
how to seduce your brain into setting it free

Northwest Institute of Literary ArtsAre you one of the 80 percent of Americans who know they have a book in them? Are you curious about the role your brain plays in keeping that expressive work locked inside?

In this presentation, local Whidbey Island writer and brain educator Mark Brady will take us on a compelling tour of the writer’s brain, focusing primarily on the parts that persist in keeping creative expression under wraps.

By evening's end you will leave inspired to begin putting words on real or virtual paper in ways that you never have before.

Mark Brady, PhD, is a neuroscience educator, writer, and retired licensed home builder. Many years ago, together with friends, he co-founded the Children’s Grief Program at Kara, a public service agency in Palo Alto, California where he only stopped volunteering upon moving to Whidbey Island. In addition to being a long-time member of the graduate research faculty at Sofia University, he writes the weekly column on social neuroscience (The Flowering Brain).

Mark is the prize-winning author of a number of books, magazine articles and academic papers. Two recent titles are: Safe and Secure: A Guide to Parenting with the Brain in Mind and A Father’s Book of Listening. He is currently working on a new book offering prescriptions for helping children escape childhood unscathed.
