Description

Door 8 / Show 9

The Mother Truckers are a kick-ass rock 'n' roll band from Austin, Texas! Their music is high-octane Americana, blending elements of Country and Blues with loud guitars, big choruses and powerhouse vocals. Their creative songwriting and high energy live performances lift you up to a place that’s somewhere between a honky-tonk and a mosh-pit!

The core of the Mother Truckers is the singer/songwriter team, Josh Zee and Teal Collins. Zee and Collins formed the band, with it’s fusion of Southern rock, country, and blues, in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2000 after meeting at a local open mic night and blues jam in San Rafael. The band recorded several self-released albums including fan favorite “Something Worth Dying For.”

In 2005, upon the suggestion of Ray Benson (Asleep At The Wheel) that they’d do great in Austin, Josh and Teal moved their music to Texas and set up shop in Austin, “The Live Music Capitol of the World”. There the band procured a coveted residency at the legendary Continental Club and quickly started drawing a large number of fans to their shows. After a successful decade in Austin, releasing three more albums, touring coast to coast, over to Europe, and performing with many great acts including Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Shooter Jennings, The Supersuckers and many more, they left the Texas hill country and moved back to Marin County, CA. to continue their musical careers.

“Austin was so good to us, and we have so many great friends there and great experiences playing there,” Zee says. “But deep in our hearts we’re California kids. We still have a lot of family and friends here in Marin. It sounds kind of hippie, but the ocean and the redwood forests of our youth were calling us back.” As TMT begins again in the Bay Area, they are joined by the original line-up from the band’s early days – Pete Franco on bass, Dana Miller on drums, and new “Trucker,” John Varn, on keyboards.

Four Year Bender’s brand of countrified soul was a mainstay on the Bay Area scene for the better part of a decade. Their debut album, “Lucky” garnered massive critical acclaim as well as National airplay, but it was the live shows that made them legends. Led by songwriter, Ryan Smith, the Bender was always able to expertly walk the line between earnest, quality song-craft, and raucous rock n’ roll debauchery. There is a little bit of something for everyone at a Four Year Bender show, and it’s all excellent.

The “Barnburner Family Reunion” will be the Bender’s first show in 5 years and the perfect opportunity to get back together with their Bay Area Siblings The Mother Truckers. Like most Family Reunions there are a few things that can be expected... heavy drinking, some yelling, and a lot of love. What happens after that is anyone’s guess... but we’re pretty sure the stories will be told for future generations.
