Cabinology: Dale Mulfinger, FAIA, architect and cabinologist, will guide participants to the best way to approach cabin decisions, from choosing a site for a new cabin, to remodeling an old one.

  • Describe site considerations for cabins
  • Recognize cabin characteristics
  • Evaluate cabin building materials
  • Critique cabin design solutions

Supper Club Architecture: Ron Fiaola, author of several Wisconsin Supper Club books, will explore some of the most exceptional and long-lived restaurants that embrace the decades-old supper club tradition. He will take an intimate look at this unique American tradition, factoring in an expansion of projects that call attention to supper clubs.

  • Identify supper club characteristics.
  • Recognize Wisconsin supper club architectural styles.
  • Compare and contrast supper club layouts.
  • Summarize Wisconsin supper club history.

The Bus Stops Here: Dale Mulfinger, FAIA, will lead a napkin sketching presentation. Guidelines for a Bus Stop design competition will be discussed and developed. The session will then develop guidelines for a Bus Stop design competition to distribute to regional high school CAD, art, or industrial tech classes for a late fall submittal back to the NW Region for review and critique and possible awards at our annual meeting.

  • Define bus stop requirements.
  • Choose acceptable vernacular materials.
  • Sketch bus stop ideas.
  • Summarize requirements for judging purposes.
