About this event

About The Movie
This thriller-comedy revolves takes plce in Port-au-Prince at night.
Doc and Zoe are just hired to deliver an unknown package. Their
job comes with three essential rules: never stop the car, never roll down the windows,
never open the trunk. At a crossroad, they stumble upon a dog. In Haiti, each crossroad
requires a sacrifice and their decision will change their path irreversibly.

Direcrtor's Statement
Based on actual events, Kafou is a dark comedy and a thriller intended to be a satire of
Haitian society. It depicts Haiti's harsh day-to-day and the raw complexity of certain
social issues. The aim is to highlight the brutal realism of the country too often denied, by
focusing on a vivid aesthetic of decay. Since Haitians tend to laugh at their pain, comedy
is the best genre to treat such serious issue and raise awareness about the banality of life
in Haiti. Socially engaged, this movie is close to my heart knowing many friends and
family had suffered from the country’s violence and corruption. Kafou is my first directorial debut shot entirely in Haiti with a Haitian cast and crew. Original and ambitious, I hope this mid-length feature will question Haiti's social complexities and instill a new breath to Haitian cinema.
