Description

Science Uncorked
Thursday, October 2 from 7:00-9:00pm
Maryland Science Center

The Maryland Science Center’s popular science of adult beverages series focuses on wine in October with a presentation in Science Uncorked, led by Joe and Mary Barbera, co-owners of AIDA Bistro & Wine Bar. The future of wine is the topic with an overview on the latest trends in wine-making and delivery systems. Participants will explore the Wine on Tap initiative, getting up close with various wine kegs, and discover why winemakers are turning to this process. The general topic of wine will also be discussed such as wine freshness, the correct temperature to serve different wine, and the truth behind wine blends. Weather-permitting, Science Uncorked will take place under the stars on the rooftop terrace overlooking the harbor.

Science Uncorked is designed to be a fun, informative and social evening that is as appealing to novice wine aficionados as it is for experienced connoisseurs. The evening includes sampling of various wine, beginning with a local Maryland wine and then venturing to other US regions and concluding with a sample from outside the US. The wine sampled during the presentation will all have been bottled from a wine tap. Light fare will also be offered before and after the presentation.

About the Presenters

Joe and Mary’s passion for great food and wine is reflected in their philosophy, “Wine is Food,” and shows with their diverse and progressive wine list, and the largest Wine on Tap program in Maryland. As a small, local business, they are committed to supporting their neighbors. At AIDA Bistro & Wine Bar, the meals are better because of local farmers, the restaurant is more beautiful because of local artists, and the wine bar is more environmentally friendly because of our Wine On Tap and filtered water systems.
