Description

SARAH CHANG - BRUCH VIOLIN CONCERTO

May 20 & 21, 2016 | 8:00 p.m.

H-E-B Performance Hall at the Tobin Center

Gabriel Feltz, conductor | Sarah Chang, violin

Tchaikovsky The Tempest
Bruch
Violin Concerto No. 1
Rachmaninoff Symphony No. 1

Violin superstar Sarah Chang made her New York Philharmonic debut at age eight and her performance of Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 displays why she has been an international audience favorite ever since. Like many great works, Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 1 was famously disastrous at its premiere, but was eventually regarded as a genuine masterpiece; its composition was influenced by Tchaikovsky, whose dramatic Shakespearean tone poem The Tempestbegins this compelling program.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Please read this entire section carefully.

How and where do I pick up the reserved tickets for my group?

On the Monday before the concert you are reserving for, please call (210) 554-1010 to confirm your final headcount, be sure to include both students and adults who will be attending. Tickets will be available to be picked up starting two hours before the concert at The Tobin Center Box Office located at 100 Auditorium Circle.

Who can attend?
This free reservation form is only applicable to public middle and high school groups located in Bexar County. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. Student groups should be accompanied by at least one adult for every ten students.

What can we bring with us?
Please note that the Tobin Center has a new "no backpack" policy. Backpacks are not allowed into the building. If your students bring backpacks with them, please be sure to have them leave the backpacks on the bus so as to avoid problems of getting in to the concert.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes. Please continue to update us with your most-accurate head count by calling (210) 554-1010. Please note however that adding additional seats at a later date may not be possible as tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Can we all sit together?
Although every effort will be made to seat your group together or as close to each other as possible, the box office will not be able to guarantee this depending on the size of your group and availability in the auditorium specific to each concert date. It will be important to bring at least one adult for every ten students so that each group of students can be seated with an adult.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
If arriving by bus, busses should turn onto Auditorium Circle from 4TH Street and unload directly in front of the main doors on the Performing Arts Plaza. Busses will need to park elsewhere downtown as there is no bus parking at the Center. A City Tour or School Bus Parking Map is available for download here: http://www.sanantonio.gov/ccdo/parking/bus.aspx

If arriving in cars, it will be necessary to park in a metered space or pay-to-park lot or garage. The Enter Lot on the corner of St. Mary’s and Lexington is the closest lot for paid parking. Additional parking information can be found at http://downtownsanantonio.org/park
