Preservation will play a key role in the City’s recovery, just as it has through previous crises. The Landmarks Conservancy has updated its groundbreaking study on the economic impacts of preservation.
“Reality and Recovery: Historic Preservation in New York City” will be released on September 10.
Among the findings:
• Historic districts are the location of choice for a wide range of businesses.
• Jobs in the rapidly growing high-tech sector, and the arts and entertainment industries are particularly drawn to historic districts.
• Businesses owned by women and minorities are disproportionately located in historic districts.
