Description

Step 11: "Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood God, praying only for knowledge of God's will for us and the power to carry that out."

This workshop is designed for OA fellows to share with each other and learn different ways to dialogue with the Higher Power of their understanding. There are no requirements for this workshop for any particular beliefs, experiences, or HP definitions. For the course of the workshop, members are invited to use gender-neutral language for HP whenever possible, to create the most potential openness for a variety of experiences.

Schedule

1:30-2pm Welcome and group shares of Higher Power questions and intentions

2-3pm Panel of Speakers on Ways to Dialogue with your HP

Short break for sunshine, fellowship, or quiet time

3:15-3:45pm Guided Meditation: The 'Listening' Part of Dialoguing with HP

3:45-4 Closing of the half-day

Those of us who have come to make regular use of prayer would no more do without it than we would refuse air, food or sunshine. And for the same reason. When we refuse air, light or food the body suffers. And when we turn away from meditation and prayer, we likewise deprive our minds, our emotions and our intuitions of vitally needed support. As the body can fail its purpose for lack of nourishment, so can the soul. We all need the light of God's reality, the nourishment of God's strength, and the atmosphere of God's grace."
- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 97-98
