Want to turn your manure into a valuable resource? Would you like to reduce your manure disposal and fertilizer costs? Be more environmentally friendly?

The NJ Department of Agriculture (NJDA) has developed a two-part FREE course taught by the NJ Composting Council, NJDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and Rutgers University designed to teach how to properly handle, store, compost and utilize horse manure and more.

Part One of the course is an online workshop designed to teach the fundamentals of how to compost, manure and nutrient management, guidelines and regulations, how to take advantage of NRCS funding opportunities. While highlighting composting with horse manure, the principles of composting remain the same. This course is appropriate for any setting, from backyard gardens to field crops, and anyone wanting to learn more about horse manure handling and composting.

To attend this webinar on Wednesday July 10th from 5:30 - 7:30pm EDT continue the registration on this page.

Part Two of the course is an in-person field day on Wednesday July 17th from 5-8pm. The field day will focus on composting horse manure with pine shavings bedding and include demonstrations of composting technique, hands-on demonstration stations, and discussion of incorporation of compost into pasture, crop, and nursery operations.
