My Brother's Keeper - Data Jam Meetup w/ invited guest Deputy Secretary of Education Jim Shelton
Monday, June 23, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (EDT)
The White House, the U.S. Department of Education, and agencies across the U.S. government are leading an effort to reduce the disparities for boys and young men of color in the United States -- the My Brother’s Keeper Initiative (MBK).
Georgetown University, in partnership with the Department of Education, is co-hosting a series of Data Jams to bring together developers, designers, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, researchers, statisticians, policy makers, educators, and students to help build new tools and applications that will create ladders of opportunity for boys and young men of color.
Come join us for an MBK Meetup at General Assembly DC (1133 15th St NW) next Monday, June 23rd from 5-7PM. In advance of the MBK Data Jam (targeting August 2nd), we are bringing together a group of practitioners, experts, researchers, students, and educators to get their input on how best to design this series of convenings such that they are impactful.
We hope to convene a diverse group of stakeholders to these MBK events and would greatly appreciate your sharing this event with anyone you think might be able to provide a unique perspective or add value (be it through expertise, past experiences, or a current skillset).
