Join us on the first Holy Name Cathedral Young Adult Retreat!

October 1-2, 2016 will be an opportunity for you to join in the opportunity to spend time with other young adults as we engage in reflection, prayer, discussion, Mass, and of course, time to socialize.

Over the course of the weekend we will focus on the idea of mission and discipleship. With the demands of work, family, friends, and life in the city, it is often difficult to fully live our faith in all aspects of our lives. This weekend will offer you the time to reflect on who you are, your relationships with others, and your mission in the world.

The weekend will be relaxing, rejuvenating, and enjoyable. It will be a casual atmosphere to help foster an environment where you can create new friendships and cultivate a deeper relationship with God.

Our retreat is organized by your peers on the Young Adult Ministry Board with discussions and presentations facilitated by:

  • Darius Villalobos from the Archdiocese of Chicago's Young Adult Ministry Office. Darius serves as the Director of Young Adult Ministry and will join us to share his thoughts on how we balance work, life, and faith as urban young adults. Since he is a young adult who is married, working full time, and living in the city, he can understand the demands and brings his many years of ministry experience to the table to share with you.
  • Megan Mio is the Director of the Missions Office for the Archdiocese of Chicago, where she interacts with missionaries serving oversees. Also a young adult, Megan has served many years focusing on the call to discipleship and mission. In addition to all of this, she is a working on her Doctorate of Ministry at Catholic Theological Union. She will share some unique reflections and inspiration on missionary discipleship in your daily life in the city. Informed by her experiences and those missionaries with whom she works, Megan has some wonderful reflections to share!

A Few FAQs:

I've never been on retreat - what should I expect?

A retreat is a chance to spend time as individuals and a group (with small and large group opportunities) reflecting on our faith journeys. You will have time to yourself, time to socialize, and time to engage in prayer and discussion on a variety of faith based topics.

What is included in the registration?

Your room and board at Cenacle Retreat Center form the core of the registration fee. This includes a double room, meals, linens, and the other amenities the retreat center provides. Also included are the fees for the speakers, all retreat materials, and other incidentals. There are no additional fees for this retreat.

What should I bring?

You will not need to bring much with you beyond your personal items for a one-night stay. A detailed list will be emailed to all participants about 10 days prior to the retreat.

Will I have a roommate?

Yes, we will need everyone to have a roommate due to the accommodations at Cenacle at this time. If you do not have a friend already coming on the retreat - invite them! Or we will help match people with roommates before and at the retreat.

I have more questions, who should I contact?
