Description
Be a Pro for a Day at the 2016 GFNY Italia on September 18, 2016. The event is held in Terracina, an hour south of Rome and is an official qualifier for the 2017 GFNY Championship in NYC on May 21, 2017.
The GFNY Italia course is one of the most beautiful granfondo routes in the world with rolling hills, fast climbs and spectacular sea views.
Adding other unique experiences to the GFNY Italia race weekend include: a Friday pre-race wine tasting at a restaurant overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and Saturday morning pre-race group ride. These pre-race social events are open to all participants and fans of GFNY Italia and enable people to share their time with likeminded people from all over the world.
The Saturday afternoon Parade of Nations and Teams celebrates those who have traveled from afar to be part of the race as well as local and national teams participating.
The coastal town of Terracina plays host to GFNY Italia for the third year. With the in-town fishing port providing restaurants with fresh catch daily, visitors to Terracina can expect culinary delights. The Ancient Roman remains of the Temple of Jupiter Anxur, built in 1st century BCE, sit atop a cliff overlooking the start & finish area of GFNY Italia contributing to stunning finish line photos for memories to last a lifetime.
The race course is 120 km (75 miles) long and has 1,899 m (6,230 ft) of climbing.
