FAQ: Everything You Need to Know About Entrainment

What is it?
ENTRAINMENT IS A PRIVATE EDUCATIONAL IMMERSIVE THEATRE EXPERIENCE taking place in June that combines film, video projections, choreography and dialogue to reflect party culture and our generational experience. Located in a Chicago warehouse, the performance is prefaced with a gallery show and closes with live performances from the city’s most innovative DJs.

Ok what does that really mean?
This play is for students, and is about what it’s like to be a young adult today. It uses the narrative of the moments before, during and after a party to reflect on a lot of big themes: identity, love, technology, society… A lot of different forms of art are involved, including original videos that will be projected on the walls of the performance space.

On the walls?
Yep! The performance itself will take place inside a “performance cube” made up of projection screens that act as walls. The audience will be surrounded with original graphics and film.

Who is putting this on?
The Voyeur Theatre Collective—an eclectic group of millennial-aged students from Northwestern, DePaul and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Check us out on Facebook and Instagram to stay in the loop.

How much of the work is original?
The script, film, score, choreography, costumes, lighting, sound, sets, props and art have all been created or curated by VTC.

What’s happening pre-show?
The first part of the evening is a gallery show taking place in the warehouse space bordering the interior performance space. There, the audience can mingle before the show, making new friends and viewing visual art curated by members of VTC.

What’s happening post-show?
Entrainment ends to the sounds of Chicago’s best DJs.
