Description

The United States Institute of Peace and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and Muslims for Progressive Values working together under the Partnership for Religion and Development are pleased to invite you to participate in a discussion on engaging transformative religious narratives for the elimination of violence against women.

This side event to the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom seeks to create a space that fosters discussion of the relationship between fundamentalist and extremist narratives of religion or culture and multifaceted forms of violence against women and girls, including of the positive role religious leaders, actors and organizations can have in tackling gender injustice and eliminating violence against women and girls. The side event will also give space to the discussion on the importance of the critical analysis of religious narratives and strategies to address and ultimately transform the structures and attitudes that sustain patriarchal and misogynistic gender stereotypes and gender-based violence.

The event will be held on 24 July from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm in the Kathwari Amphitheater at the United States Institute of Peace, located at 2301 Constitution Avenue NW. Please RSVP by Sunday, July 22 to confirm your attendance. Space is limited.

We look forward to your participation.
