Whether we realize it or not we are shaped by some story or narrative. It is either the narratives of the world around us or the story of the Kingdom. C.S. Lewis understood that narratives shape our imaginations and thus our actions. Stories are powerful and if we are not shaped by the right one the direction of our lives will be askew and we will miss out on all that God has in store for us. For this reason Lewis invested so much time in writing children's books and adult science fiction. He knew that they could shape children and adults in ways that his non-fiction could not.

Join us for Conversations in Spiritual Formation as we learn about the power of the Story and the ways that Lewis's writings can transform your imagination and your life.

Bio:

Dr. Jim Belcher, President of Providence Christian College, is the author of In Search of Deep Faith, which takes the reader on the year-long pilgrimage that Jim and his family took through Europe, pursuing heroes of the faith and weaving his family’s journey throughout the book. He and his wife Michelle, along with their four children reside in Pasadena.

On Conversations in Spiritual Formation:
Conversations is a quarterly lecture series sponsored by the Retreat Ministry at Saddleback Church. Taking place at the beautiful Rancho Capistrano retreat property, Conversations is a place to explore the various aspects of walking out an abiding life with Christ. Each quarter we invite a speaker to focus on a specific area of the Christian life.
