Coaching for Performance

1.6 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) will be awarded by SPE-Americas Office for this 2-day course.
This 2 day, highly experiential course will provide course participants in a supervisory or leadership role with a methodology to improve the performance and retention of their direct reports through coaching. While working through real world examples of current team members, participants will learn to assess areas for performance improvement, and determine root causes. Coaching techniques and methods that can be easily applied will be taught and practiced. Participants will leave this course with a solid coaching plan for their team.
The class will provide a solid foundation for leaders to use in improving employee performance through coaching and development. Topics will include:
• Understanding when to coach versus mentor versus manage
• Assessing critical competencies
• Coaching foundational skills, techniques, and methods
• Determining appropriate learning actions/ creating a coaching plan
The training material for the program will be available in hard copy, electronic, or iBook format. If you wish to have the material as an iBook you must provide your own iPad or compatible Apple device. This course also includes a post course learning track to be delivered via email for 6 months following the training.
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for those in leadership positions with direct reports including supervisors, team leads, managers, company executives, or other engineers or participants who are interested in leadership or have been identified as emerging leaders.
About the Instructor
Marilyn Thiet is the founder and president of EDGE Performance Acceleration. Marilyn and her team at EDGE work with clients to help them increase their profitability and productivity by developing their leaders and people. Marilyn’s areas of expertise include coaching, leadership development, strategic planning and execution, training and development, and process improvement. Marilyn has over 25 years of professional experience and spent most of her career working for GE. Marilyn has a degree in Radiologic Technology (R.T.R.) from the Medical College of Wisconsin and a BS degree in Business Management from Ottawa University. She is trained and certified in Professional Facilitation, Change Acceleration Process (CAP) and Six Sigma quality methodologies.
