About this event
The California Black Women's Health Project, Public Health Alliance of Southern California, and Communities Lifting Communities invites you to join us for an afternoon of sisterhood and intimate conversation, as we re-imagine hospital births for Black women and pregnant people in South LA, South Bay and the Antelope Valley.
Together, we'll prioritize our recommendations to the hospital partners participating in Cherished Futures for Black Moms & Babies, including:
- Antelope Valley Hospital
- California Hospital Medical Center
- Cedars-Sinai
- Centinela Hospital Medical Center
- Providence Little Company of Mary Torrance
We encourage African American/Black pregnant and parenting people, community advocates, birth professionals (i.e.- perinatal providers, doulas, breastfeeding professionals, etc.) who live or work in South LA, South Bay, or the Antelope Valley to attend, especially those who have delivered or provided labor support in one of the participating hospitals.
For questions, please contact Dana Sherrod at dsherrod@phi.org, or Natalie Champion at natalie@cabwhp.org
About Cherished Futures for Black Moms & Babies
Cherished Futures for Black Moms and Babies (Cherished Futures), an initiative led by the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC), Communities Lifting Communities (CLC), and the Public Health Alliance of Southern California (Alliance), is a multi-sector collaborative effort that aims to reduce Black infant deaths and improve patient experience and safety for Black mothers and birthing people in South LA, South Bay, and the Antelope Valley. Cherished Futures brings together decisionmakers from local birthing hospitals, public health departments, health plans, and Black women from the priority communities to co-design systems-change solutions at the clinical, institutional, and community levels.
