Description

Join the visiting Culture Project Missionaries for an all night vigil of prayer regarding the new movie "50 Shades of Grey" being released on Valentine's Day. We're praying because the central themes of this movie include lust, violence, and abuse toward women, and we're not ok with that. Click "ATTEND" for more details on how to sign up.

We have an opportunity to have prayer going for 12 straight hours at Most Precious Blood - the old, beautiful flagship Church of the annual St. Gennaro festival in the heart of Little Italy. If enough people commit, we'll be able to have the Blessed Sacrament exposed, too.

We'll be offering each 2-hour slot for a different intention:
10PM-Midnight:
For all those who will be seeing the movie or who have read the book(s).
Midnight-2AM:
For all invlolved in the making of the film (directors, actors, writers, etc).
2AM-4AM:
For the physical, emotional, and psycological healing of anyone who has ever been abused in any way.
4AM-6AM:
For those who experience any sort of addiction, especially addiction to pornography.
6AM-8AM:
For Vocations to the Priesthood, Religious Life, Consecrated Life and Marriage that go unnoticed due to sin.
8AM-10AM:
For all families.

If you've never been a part of an all night vigil, don't fret. You do not need to be awake the whole time. We've gotten explicit permission from the Pastor to sleep in the Church, a tradition that dates all the way back to the Old Testament accounts of Samuel, who slept in the tabernacle keeping watch where the Ark of the Covenant was kept. So don't worry, we're not heretics. Bring a pillow and sleeping bag or blanket. We'll provde a heated Church and a pue. If sleeping is not your gig, we'll have coffee and tea avaiable in the rectory where you can re-live your college days and pull an all nighter over conversation and caffeine after you finish your committed shift.

We're asking everyone to try to arrive before midnight, if possible (unless you pick the 10PM-Midnight shift). If you plan to only attend for your particular 2-hour shift, please let us know beforehand by e-mailing Kayla at kstadelman@restoreculture.com so arrangements can be made to let you in. On Saturday morning we'll have a free Pancake Brunch so make sure you stick around!

Subway:
The closest station in walking distance is Canal St (6).

Parking:
Only street parking will be available. Parking is free on Mulberry St. after 10PM until 10AM. So, you may need to throw some quarters in right before the food is ready.

Questions? E-mail Lamar at ledwards@restoreculture.com.

See you Friday!
