Harrogate has a thriving art scene and for our first in person event we are delighted that both Messums and the Watermark Gallery have agreed to talk about the very different stories behind their arrival in the town.
We will be meeting at Messum’s on James Street then walking to the Watermark Gallery on Royal Parade before going on to enjoy a cream tea together at the nearby Palm Court Café.
On display at Messums is Photographs of Scotland by Alexander Lindsay. This exhibition is the result of two years travelling from the east coast where he lives, to the Outer Hebrides, the isles of Skye and Harris, Sutherland and Glen Affric. He has worked internationally, notably with the Maasai people in Africa, and for five years he worked in Afghanistan during Soviet occupation.
The Watermark Gallery is showing an exhibition of Tessa Pearson’s lively and colour rich work, The Artist’s Garden, alongside a selection of paintings, sculpture, jewellery, ceramics and more by some of the artists and makers they represent.
A limited number of tickets are available to book online here at a cost of £20 each.
We are hoping for good weather but please come prepared as it is a short ten minute walk from James Street to Royal Parade. All three locations will have current social distancing measures in place.
