Untapped Cities is an online publication, launched in 2009, dedicated to unearthing New York City’s most unique and surprising places, stories and events. We are a community of over 500 passionate contributors, interested in what’s hidden and unnoticed, and how our history informs city life now and in the future.
Untapped Cities Tours takes you behind-the-scenes into the places we write about on Untapped Cities, led by those directly involved in the spaces. We offer unique tours which you can't find anywhere else. We give you access to places normally off-limits to the public like the Woolworth Building, the Players Club or the Bialystoker Synagogue. We also have an on-going partnership with the NYC Economic Development Corporation to bring readers behind the scenes into the city's most exciting development projects like the Brooklyn Kings Theater, the Brooklyn Army Terminal or the Hunts Point Food Distribution Center just to name a few. In our tours of the city's landmarks, like Grand Central Terminal, we offer insider tours revealing lesser-known secrets.
Our tour guides range from project managers at the NYC Department of City Planning, playwrights, historians, urban planners and more, who have a deep knowledge of New York City's history and what's in store. We hope you'll join us on an upcoming tour!
