In 1934 Victor Bergeron, known as 'The Trader' opened a local watering hole called 'Hinky DInk's' in Oakland, California. After a whirlwind of success and the growing popularity of his rum cocktails and tropical libations- the business was transformed into 'Trader Vic's'. Herb Caen used to lovingly refer to Trader Vic's and claimed "the best restaurant in San Francisco is in Oakland." In the decades since, Trader Vic's has spread world-wide and now has 20+ locations with 3 different brands spanning the globe.
