Terry Dyer
Terry is a transformative leader with a remarkable track record of impacting both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. Renowned for his strategic insights and dynamic leadership, Terry has been a steadfast advocate for the LGBTQ+ community nationwide since 2007. His contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including being named POZ Health Magazine's “African-American Person of the Month” in 2010.
In 2020, he authored the best-selling memoir, Letters to a GAY BLACK BOY, a deeply personal work that sparks crucial conversations on racism, equity, family, homophobia, mental health, and love.
In 2024, Terry founded Terry Dyer Consulting LLC, supporting organizations with Strategic Planning, Fund & Grant Development, Executive Leadership, Community Engagement and Development, and Event Planning. His unwavering commitment to social change and education continues to inspire others and drive meaningful progress.
Volunteerism and Advocacy . Since 2007, Terry has been a member of the San Francisco LGBTQ+ Speakers Bureau, working to dispel homophobia and transphobia by educating others about the lives and experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals. Over the years, he has volunteered with various organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, and South Florida communities. Currently, he serves as a board member for Plays of Wilton (POW), is a member of the South Florida HRC Steering Committee, and founded the Black LGBTQ Empowerment Group. He also co-hosts the podcast Gritz and Glitter, amplifying Black LGBTQ+ voices.
Athletics and the Arts . Terry’s leadership and determination extend to athletics, as a former All-American Collegiate Volleyball Player, high school All-American track & field athlete, and competitive tennis player. A former Star Search contestant, Terry’s talents extend beyond leadership into the arts, holding degrees in Vocal Performance and Communications
