We're the Smithsonian's home for science in the coastal zone! From our headquarters on Chesapeake Bay, scientists at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center study life on the land-sea boundary in coasts around the globe. We're searching for solutions for a more sustainable world, through research on climate change, biodiversity, invasive species, pollution and restoration.
