About Papel Arcano
Papel Arcano is a unique stationery store and creative hub located in York Plaza, Elmhurst, IL. As a Latine- & LGBTQ-owned stationery haven, we believe stationery should feel like everyday magic. We curate Japanese pens, whimsical washi, and journals that beg to be scribbled in. We also offer free journaling supplies and a Stationery Swap Station where you can pick up free stationery left behind by other paper-lovers. We’re a third-space for creatives of all ages and skill levels, and have a dedicated journaling station for anyone to use during store hours. After hours or on weekends, we often turn the shop into a creativity clubhouse for journaling meet-ups and more!

- Free community meet-ups: bilingual journaling circles every other month
- Club or artist events: meet-up space for clubs or local artists who want to host events
- Hands-on workshops: journaling and stationery how-to events, often in partnership with local and indie artists
- Playful game nights: Sticker Bingo, Stationery Jeopardy, lotería con stickers vibes
What's in the Shop
Step inside and you’ll find:
- Curated global stationery: fountain-pen-friendly notebooks, Japanese planners (Midori, Kokuyo), artisan washi tape, indie sticker sheets, calligraphy supplies, journaling accessories, and locally made greeting cards. Every item is hand-selected for craftsmanship and joy.
- Pen Tester Bar: sample pens before you buy. No more guesswork - just scribble, test, and choose the tool that sparks stationery joy.
- Community values: inclusivity is core to our mission. Staff greet everyone like future pen-pals. We partner with small makers, offer free supplies, and curate many products from LGBTQ+ or POC makers.
- Convenience: open late on Washi Wednesdays (till 7 p.m.). Order online for pickup or nationwide shipping. Free parking surrounds the plaza, and we’re about one mile from the Elmhurst Metra station.
Our mission is simple: spark joy on paper, build inclusive community, and prove that a great pen + good people can turn any blank page into possibility. Come conjure something wonderful with us!
