Northen Quantum

Northen Quantum is a company founded by Alan Northen FRICS, lead author of RICS New Rules of Measurement Volume 2 (NRM2) 2nd Edition 2021. With the purpose of training surveyors in Measurement skills, aimed at any person working in the construction industry that needs to know how to obtain accurate quantities and provide accurate descriptors in construction projects to help manage and mitigate risk.

The Vision for Northen Quantum is to support the development of measurement of construction projects standards and rules, that meet the needs of people using them and the planet we live on. The Mission is to train professionals on practical use of Measurement rules and understanding of how these relate to standards. Also to discuss existing rules and methods of measurement as feedback for updates to such rules and standards.

Alan Northen (Alan Northen | LinkedIn), is also a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Registered Expert Witness, with more than 30 years of experience his specialism is in the quantification, measurement, and valuation of construction work. He is supporting the RICS in working groups on the NRM Suite and Practice Standard on Carbon Assessment.
