Mobtown Studios is an artist-friendly recording, mixing and mastering studio owned and operated by producer Mat Leffler-Schulman and womanager/doula Emily Leffler-Schulman. The studio provides a warm living room environment where bands create records comfortably and affordably.
The studio is located in a large light-filled 1890s converted (and possibly haunted) rowhouse in Baltimore's historic Charles Village neighborhood, near Penn Station and the Station North Arts District. Our six-room 1,600 square foot facility was masterfully planned by acoustical engineer Julien Robilliard (Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft) and employs a variety of innovative and modular acoustical treatments to shape your sound. Take a tour.
We've worked with artists on Universal Records, Warner Bros., Interscope, Thrill Jockey, 4AD, Merge, Tzadik, Bar/None, Tender Loving Empire, Analog Edition, Glacial Pace and Friends Records.
Our clients have been featured on Saturday Night Live, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Voice and The Colbert Report. The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Ken Bethea (The Old 97s), Celebration, Dan Deacon, The Dismemberment Plan, Drop Electric, The Flying Eyes, Future Islands, Have Mercy, Little Hurricane, Mark degli Antoni (Soul Coughing/David Byrne), Morning Teleportation, Starlight Girls, Waka Flocka Flame, Wye Oak & Dustin Wong have walked our halls or have been mixed/mastered at the studio.
