Kevin Powell is one of the most celebrated political, cultural, literary, and pop culture and hip-hop voices in America. A poet, journalist, human and civil rights activist, filmmaker, and author of 15 books, Kevin is also a former two-time candidate for the United States Congress in New York City, curator of the very first exhibit on the history of hip-hop with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and a cast member on the first and original season of MTV’s “The Real World.” Kevin’s writings have appeared in a wide range of publications, including Quincy Jones’ Vibe, where he was a founding staff member, and also The New York Times, Esquire, The Guardian, Ebony, Essence, British GQ, Rolling Stone, and HuffPost.
