Jo Jury
Living and working in Wirral, I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist with over 16 years working in the NHS. My clinical specialism is in supporting people with long term conditions and physical health difficulties although I also have experience working more generally within mental health. I take a science-backed holistic approach where I see the mind, brain and body being connected as part of one system. I use a biopsychosocial model of health, and I draw upon principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Whilst psychological strategies cannot cure or prevent physical health changes, what they can do is support us to live a value-focused life alongside ourselves, our minds and our bodies. This can help us manage symptoms better and improve our quality of life. I also find that these principles can be applied more generally to stress, anxiety and low mood. I love working with groups of people where shared experiences can have transformative effects above and beyond individual therapy. I look forward to navigating this new opportunity with you all.
My events, workshops and groups will either be general (open to all) or will be targeted at specific problems (e.g. perimenopause). These will be clearly labelled so that you can select something that is going to meet your needs.
