Emily Iris Degn

Emily Iris Degn

Emily Iris Degn is an award-winning eco-poet, passionate ecofeminist, environmental writer and traveler, and nature artist. Her work is grounded in a strong sense of place, as she explores themes of wildness and interconnection. She has focused her career on forging a bond between people and nature, tackling the assumption of separateness.

Aside from her creative work, she also teaches local nature classes to democratize environmental knowledge. She holds a BS in environmental studies, a BA in creative writing, an AA in art history, and a concentration in gender and women's studies. She is from the Salish Sea in the north, but resides now in the Blue Ridge Mountains with her partner, where she makes art and foods that honor her Nordic ancestry.
