Connected Development [CODE]

CODE is an NGO that improves access to information and empowers rural communities.

This is primarily through its initiative, Follow The Money, which tracks, visualizes and monitors governmental implementation of capital spending [international aid or government appropriation] intended for communities to ensure transparency, accountability, service delivery and effective public oversight.

The organization has been able to engage marginalized communities and ensure government utilizes resources it earmarks for infrastructural development most especially in the health, education and the environment.

In 2013, we were successful in advocating and tracking the release of US$5.3 million for the immediate treat 1,500 lead poisoned children in Bagega, Zamfara. In the same year, we advocated and tracked the release of NGN 5 million for the provision of classrooms for 115 pupils who were learning under tree shed in Eyele, Kogi State. In 2014, we advocated and tracked the release of NGN120 million for the relocation of 3,000 citizens of Gutsura, Zamfara to a new site.

In 2015, we revealed the scam project while tracking the release of NGN 9.2 billion that was meant to purchase 750,000 stoves for rural women. The list goes on and we have impacted over 157,000  rural lives.
