Beyond Home Borders
Beyond Home Borders is a virtual Fundraising Festival to obtain much-needed funding for the Lontar Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Lontar was established in 1987 for the purpose of promoting international appreciation of Indonesian culture through the translation and publication of Indonesian literary works. Since its founding, Lontar has produced more than 225 titles, including translations of literary works by more than 550 Indonesian authors. Besides raising funds for Lontar’s publications program, we hope that by presenting 12 online events during the month of May, Beyond Home Borders will bring greater international recognition for Indonesian literature, reinforce the network of Indonesia-related organizations in North America, and create greater public interest in and appreciation for Indonesia.
