Community Lodgings' mission is to lift families from homelessness and instability to self-sufficiency and independence through Transitional Housing, Affordable Housing, and a Youth Education Program.

For 36 years, Community Lodgings has provided safe Transitional Housing, as well as permanent Affordable Housing for hardworking low-income families in Alexandria, VA. The organization owns 45 apartment units, with 5 units set aside specifically for Transitional Housing. Affordable Housing is available to low income families scaled to household income, not market rate.

Our Youth Education Program is an out-of-school time program that operates 5 days a week, and includes mentoring, social-emotional learning, tutoring and homework help, Peace Club (conflict negotiation and de-escalation skills), Spitfire Book Club, field trips, a six-week summer camp, and college tours. We offer a safe, structured environment for children to learn, gain skills, and play.

Children in our program are students in the 1st through 12th grades and enrolled in Alexandria City Public Schools. 98% of our families are working - and yet, they still cannot afford some basic living necessities. 100% of our students advanced to the next grade last year.
