Kay Ross, CEO of Owl Echo Entertainment
Karen "Kay" Ross has guided hundreds of writers to elevated, award-winning, and financed screenplays through a program she developed called #StoryMath (trademark pending). What is #StoryMath? The strategic use of mathematical principles to assess, create, and establish the foundations of any story, beginning to end. Even if math was never your subject in school, as Kay says, "we all know the effect of positive or negative events, of wins or losses. That's the universal equation we're using to create stories with #StoryMath". She is known for taking pride in delivering more than "notes" or "coverage" for her creative clients. Instead, she looks for opportunities to create a plan that is actionable, achievable, and encouraging.
Penning almost one-hundred original blogs, about networking, filmmaking, and the craft of screenwriting, Kay is blazing forward in her filmmaking career. After more than five years as the Stage 32 Community Manager, Writers' Room Producer, and the co-host of The Coverage Report, Kay is shifting her focus on to her projects in development. As a writer, producer, and director, she enjoys working with innovative, inclusive, and driven collaborators - so feel free to reach out!
Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Kay got her start in the capital's exceptional theater circuit, including Signature Theatre, Source Theatre, and the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. After her first few years in television, she moved to Los Angeles to continue pursuing her dream of writing and directing in the narrative space. While developing her own projects, she still loves to give back to the creative community. Currently, she hosts a LIVE broadcast podcast "Biscuits with Bosses", a tea-time talk with leaders in the industry to get to know them TED LASSO-style while exploring ways to elevate the future of filmmaking.
