Five Points Community Garden

Five Points Community Garden

In the heart of downtown Atlanta, a green oasis is flourishing. The Five Points Community Garden at Garnett (formerly located above the Five Points MARTA) is more than just a collection of plants—it's a testament to urban resilience, community collaboration, and the power of fresh, locally grown food.

Our Story:

Established in 2016 through a partnership between Central Atlanta Progress, the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (CAP/ADID), and MARTA, our 501(c)(3) garden has deep roots in the community. In 2018, we joined forces with the City of Atlanta's Office of Resilience through its AgLanta program, solidifying our position as a key player in the city’s urban agriculture movement.

Today, we’re in a new space (thanks to Bill Gallman and his representation of McCall Realty) because of MARTA’s transformation. We’re turning a gravel parking lot into a vibrant tapestry of galvanized steel planters, raised beds and giant clay pots. Our 23 dedicated members cultivate a diverse array of produce - from heirloom tomatoes to South American peppers and aromatic za'atar.

With support from AgLanta’s Grows-a-Lot and organizations like Food Well Alliance and ChangeX, we've expanded our reach. Our current garden now boasts a greenhouse, tool storage, compost station - and we’ve created a certified pollinator garden at Underground Atlanta.

Our Community:

Our impact extends far beyond our garden beds. In 2024 alone, we've engaged more than 350 volunteers who have contributed more than 1,800 hours to help us relocate and establish our new space. These dedicated individuals have transformed a neglected, weed-filled lot into a thriving green space that nourishes both body and soul.

We're continuing our work as a gathering spot for the community, hosting everything from Atlanta Downtown Neighborhood Association meetings to AgLanta tours and education events.
