Since 2006, Oakland Art Murmur (OAM) has grown from a collective effort of eight arts spaces to a cultural cornerstone in Oakland. Best known for the First Friday Art Walk, OAM now spans over 30 venues, attracting up to 20,000 participants monthly. OAM amplifies the East Bay's diverse artists, emphasizing inclusivity and community engagement. In response to economic challenges to artists and arts spaces, OAM implements initiatives like East Bay Open Studios, fostering connections between artists, venues, and audiences, and ensuring the continued vibrancy of Oakland's visual arts community.
