Unexpected Productions created the improv scene in Seattle. For 40 years, they have been providing hilarious performances, offering & extensive improv school, improv festivals & and corporate training. Unexpected Productions is the heart of improv in Seattle, located at the Market Theater, in historic Pike Place Market, at the world-famous Gum Wall!

The foundation was laid in 1982, when a troupe of dedicated improvisers became the first in the US to perform Theatresports The experienced ensemble of actors, working with little more than their wits & imaginations take the ideas from the audience, & turn them into improvised stories. Theatresports is the longest running show in Seattle.

In 1983, Unexpected Productions was officially established as a non-profit theater & the company moved to the Intiman Playhouse. In 1990, In May of 1991, the company found a permanent home at the Market Theater in the Pike Place Market.

Unexpected Productions company members have been performing, teaching, & participating in festivals with improv groups all around the US & all around the world. In so doing, Unexpected Productions has established a global reputation as a leader in improvisation & innovator in the craft.

Today, Unexpected Productions is 67 members strong, & our diverse tightly woven ensemble uses audience suggestions, experiences & sometimes even the audience themselves to create a show that is funny, unique, & always entertaining. Get your tickets now
