Established in 1968 as an affiliate of the National Urban League, Greater Sacramento Urban League (GSUL) is a historic civil rights and community advocacy organization dedicated to empowering Black individuals and other historically marginalized communities throughout the Sacramento region. Our mission is to assist individuals in securing economic self-reliance, power, and civil rights. We believe that true social change happens when local talent is nurtured, barriers to equal opportunity are dismantled, and families are equipped with the tools to live well, be well, and thrive.

Through our dedicated workforce development initiatives, youth programs, health and quality of life and housing counseling center, GSUL operates as a community structural hub built on our core RISE values:
