Djapo Cultural Arts Institute

Djapo Cultural Art's Institute is a Cleveland-based cultural arts organization dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and transforming African and African diasporic dance, music, history, and folklore through performance, education, and community engagement. Founded in 2008 by Talise A. Campbell, Djapo has spent over 17 years creating immersive artistic experiences that connect communities through rhythm, storytelling, movement, and cultural exchange.

Through festivals, performances, educational programming, international cultural tours, youth initiatives, and multidisciplinary collaborations, Djapo uplifts artists and traditions from across the African diaspora while creating spaces for healing, intergenerational connection, and collective celebration. The organization has partnered with schools, theaters, museums, and community institutions locally, nationally, and internationally, impacting thousands through culturally rooted arts experiences.

Djapo Cultural Arts Institute is best known for its annual Culture Fest, Juneteenth celebrations, international cultural exchange programs, and dynamic productions that weave together live music, dance, visual art, and storytelling into transformative community experiences.
