Over Coffee is a listening game built to move conversations past small talk. Created by Houston-based Gena Scurry, a self-described introvert, the game gives people a structure for talking about the topics they usually avoid, such as career, politics, mental health, family, and the meaning of life, without fear of judgment.

Play centers on listening. Players draw from 140 topic cards and 100 verb cards. Instead of answering scripted questions, each player uses a verb card to write their own follow-up question, which pushes curiosity further and makes every round different.

Over Coffee events bring neighbors, coworkers, friends, and strangers to the same table. The goal is connection: knowing and being known by the people around you.

Our current initiative, The Connection Experiment, invites 5,000 Houstonians to sit down, listen first, and meet each other over coffee.
