Texas Veterans Land Board
The Texas Legislature created the Veterans Land Board (VLB) as part of the Texas General Land Office (GLO) in 1946 to help Veterans returning to Texas after World War II to buy land. The VLB has expanded over the years to offer additional loan programs and services to Veterans and Military Members.
The mission of the VLB is to ensure that we offer the very best package of Veterans benefits in the country and those of us who work for the VLB strive to meet those goals every day. For more than 70 years, we have had the honor to serve Veterans, Military Members, and their families in Texas, and we look forward to keeping that promise in the years to come.
All eligible Texas Veterans and Military Members can take advantage of the below VLB programs:
- Special land, home, and home improvement loans and terms
- Exclusive land sales
- Nine Texas State Veterans homes
- Four Texas State Veterans cemeteries
Other services available from the VLB include:
- Voices of Veterans - Oral History Program to record Veterans' stories in their own voice and then preserves the stories in the GLO archives
- Next Gen Warrior series to capture inspiring stories of Iraq and Afghanistan era Veterans as they transition back into civilian life
- A call center with representatives available to answer questions or provide other assistance, weekdays from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
