WVON
The WVON Chicago Read-In is a dynamic, literacy-focused cultural event presented in partnership with WVON—one of Chicago’s most historic and influential talk radio stations—and produced by author and creative Jil Ross. Conceived by Ross as “Literacy Live! The Chicago Read-In,” the event transforms traditional reading into an immersive experience where books come alive through live performances, including music, spoken word, dance, and theatrical storytelling, all designed to inspire literacy and creative expression across communities. Bringing together authors, artists, and audiences of all ages, the Read-In reflects Ross’s vision of using the arts to engage, educate, and uplift. The April 2026 edition will be filmed for future broadcast on VONtv and will help introduce WVON’s “Turn The Page” initiative, reaching viewers beyond the live audience and into homes across a wider community.
