
Flamenco y Sol
Glenda Sol Koeraus, “La Argentinita,” is a Buenos Aires-born flamenco dancer who over the past decade has established herself as one of the top flamenco dancers/choreographers in New York City. As a scholarship recipient of the Jerome Foundation's Travel and Study Grant, the Cristina Heeren Foundation scholarship and the Jacob’s Pillow Cultural traditions program, Sol has studied with many of the great dancers and teachers of flamenco. Sol performs internationally as a soloist and with various flamenco companies sharing the stage with artists such as Soledad Barrio, Alfonso Losa, Raquel Heredia "La Repompilla", Alejandro Granados, Juan Ogalla, and Diego Amador. She has performed at illustrious venues such Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Symphony Space, The New Victory Theater and The Joyce Theater and the Metropolitan Opera. In 2007 she founded Flamenco y Sol Flamenco Company, which prides itself in producing traditional flamenco performances and workshops with international artists. In 2018 and 2019 Sol was awarded the SU-CASA community arts engagement grant, a program for senior citizens funded by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
More recently, she has been featured in the multimedia production Medea by Yara Travieso and dancing at the Thalia production “Alma” sharing the stage with Flamenco star Adrian Galia. Sol was the principal dancer and choreographer for the Flamenco Fusion with Latin Grammy Maestro Raul Jaurena and Multi-Instrumentalist/singer prodigy Diego Amador at the Thalia Theater. In addition to performing, directing and choreographing, Sol is also an accomplished teacher, having travelled the country giving both master and youth classes as well as residencies with Flamenco Vivo, Alvin Ailey, Young Audiences, Brooklyn Arts Council, she is also an instructor at Mark Morris Dance Group faculty.

Sol will be dancing at Eyre’s production of Carmen at the Metropolitan Opera.
